Hotels in Tequila

Hotels in Tequila Jalisco for all tastes and budgets – The wide variety includes five star hotels, even hotels located within the distilleries for an extraordinary experience.

Jalisco Tequila

Drinking excessively Mexican national drink is a common mistake made by visitors to the picturesque colonial city of Tequila. The smartest thing to do in that situation is to spend the night instead of hitting the road, and a unique distillery now offers guests the opportunity to try their product and then sleep in their own tequila barrel.

Matices Hotel de Barricas is owned by Hacienda Tequilera La Cofradía, a distillery and boutique hotel located in the heart of the country of tequila. The perfect place for a weekend getaway, the hotel’s innovative accommodation rests on a tranquil blue agave field.

Located a few steps from one of the city’s historic distilleries, guests enjoy the fresh air mixed with the rich and distinctive aromas that arise from the production process.

The comfortable wooden barrels of the hotel have double beds, sofas, air conditioning and a mini-bar (very well fed with some bottles of Cofradia tequila). The large bathroom has a shower and a hairdryer. In short, it provides everything you would expect in a normal hotel, but with the added thrill of enjoying a night of rest in a barrel of tequila.

The hotel opened in September 2017 with 18 barrels rooms, and demand has been so high that they have since expanded to 30 units. This summer, the hotel is opening a pool, and a year later they plan to expand to more than 50 barrels.

The surrounding facilities
The expansive and elegant hacienda is located a few steps from the hotel, and you can take a guided tour of the facilities that work in the distillery.

Hotel Matices de Barricas Gigantes
About 3,300 gallons (15,000 liters) of tequila are produced by the distillery every day in a huge and highly coordinated operation. Useful tourist guides will guide you through the entire production process, from the emblematic agave fields to the bottling rooms, where you can even leave your creative side by decorating your own bottle. You can also enjoy tasting tequila and visit the on-site museum, which offers fascinating insights into the history and culture of the city.

The Matices Hotel de Barricas has its own restaurant, which serves a free daily breakfast. We also recommend stopping at La Taberna del Cofrade, the emblematic restaurant / bar on the hacienda. Located 15 feet (4.5 meters) underground, this elegant restaurant offers a menu that offers dishes from the five states that are legally authorized to produce tequila: Jalisco, Nayarit, Michoacán, Guanajuato and Tamaulipas. There are many highlights on the menu, but the exquisite prawn medallion with agave sauce should not be missed.
